ARRI Alexa

HD Cinema has received its first Alexa camera, one of the most exciting cameras for Digital Cinema production. The ARRI Alexa has a very high dynamic range imager and processor recording 13.5 stops of latitude. Very high quality performance recording - 1080p using Apple native ProRes 444 and ProRes 422 Quicktime format. This allows a very easy post workflow as those files can be instantly ingested and edited into Final Cut Pro without having to transcode.

The Alexa can record the high res 2K ARRIRAW format to an external recorder such as the Codex or S2, or a dual link 444 to a Sony SRW-1 HDCAM SR VTR.

RED MX 800 with its Super 35mm sized 4K CMOS sensor records 4K, 3K, 2K or HD images in a RAW format as .R3D files. The ability to use 35mm PL Mount film lenses allows the use of the finest optics available. The Sony PDW-F800 is is the camera that replaces the venerable Sony F900 HDCAM and the images look even better! This camera has full 1920x1080 recording at 50 Mbs data rate with 422 color. Shoots 1080 variable frame up to 60i and 30p, and 720p up to 60p for slow-mo.

Sony F3 PL Mount

PMW F3

HD Cinema now has two Sony F3 Super35mm sensor cameras in house for rental.

With a factory built PL Mount, the F3 will utilize all the best cinema lenses available, but as it has a small flange focus depth many less expensive DSLR lenses from Nikon, Canon and others.

Sony SR-R1 recorder 1 TB SR memory card

A firmware upgrade later in 2011 will allow a true ISO of 1600 and the ability to record 4:4:4 10bit via its dual link HD SDI output. Recording that format has been very expensive in the past, but the new Sony SR-R1 recorder will record on 1 TB SR memory cards. The recorder is expected to be priced at half the cost of the Codex or S-TWO digital recorders, or the SRW-1 HDCAM SR recorders currently available.

Designed from the ground up to exploit the ultimate high performance of SxS PRO memory cards, the PMW-EX1 combines a state-of-the-art, non-linear XDCAM workflow with simply the best HD quality yet seen in a compact camcorder. It is also the first handheld camcorder to carry the legendary CineAlta 24P brand with multiple frame rate recording capability such as 59.94i, 50i, and native 23.98P, as well as being 1080i/720P switchable.

The Sony EX3 camera has the same 1920x1080 sensor, the same lens, and the same image quality as the EX1, but it has interchangeable lens mount for 1/2" and 2/3" broadcast and cine lenses, as well as the capability to genlock and slave time code for multi-camera shoots.

The Ikelite Canon HV20 Underwater Housing is molded of clear polycarbonate to provide seamless construction and corrosion proof performance. This "Clearly Superior" design provides full view of the camcorder, control functions, and assurance the system is safe up to 200 feet (60 meters). The housing with camera installed is very slightly negative in salt-water for stability. The system's compact size and weight make it a breeze to travel with. A complete housing and camera combination weighs less than 9 pounds (4 kg). The housing with base and handle assembly measures only 11" (27cm) wide; 8" (20cm) high; and 8" (20cm) deep. Included UR/Pro Color Filter provides color correction in tropical blue water with available sunlight up to 80 feet (24 meters). An optional filter #6441.81 is also available to achieve more natural tones in green water settings. Super Eye magnifier for the optical viewfinder is included, providing enhanced viewing while wearing a diving mask. The camera's large viewing screen can be seen easily using the External Mirror on the side of the housing. Just open the camera's LCD monitor, rotate 180° and fold back against the side of the camera. Actual image will be reversed when viewed through the mirror. The housing port is threaded to allow the use of Ikelite W-20, Inon Type II, and Epoque 67mm threaded Wide-Angle Conversion Lenses. The base removes instantly with a unique toggle clamp for traveling or attaching of the optional Pro Video-Lite 3 bat
