 Sony SRW-5500 HDCAM SR multiformat vtr: This format has now replaced HD D5 as the industry standard mastering format for high definition video output.
Whether your post process has included 35mm telecine to data and out to film, this is a required delivery format for all the studios and the major television and cable networks. The SRW-5500 is multi- format as it records both HDCAM SR and the regular HDCAM format. However the SR technology allows the recording of 12 audio channels. This assures your master can contain a 5.1 surround sound mix, as well as a stereo mix with effects tracks or other languages.

This SRW-5800 vtr currently has the HKSR 5001 format converter board as well as the new HKSR 5803HQ board which records and plays an even higher data rate than the 5500, up to 880 Mbs which allows the recording and playback of 1080/60p, or for 3D stereo projects it can record two streams of 4:2:2 HD SDI video. The Network Data Option is available but not currently installed. The data option allows record and playback of 2K DPX or Cineon files.
