ARRI has been a respected name in the film world for decades.

Now their newest digital cinema camera has arrived at HD Cinema, the ARRI Alexa.

The Alexa has a 3.5K CMOS imager yielding either 2K or 1920x1080 HD images. With ISO 800 sensitivity, and the Dynamic Range of 13.5 stops, this camera has outstanding performance.

HD Cinema has three Sony PMW- F3 cameras in house now.

The new Super 35mm size sensor and built in PL Mount allow a large variety of cinema lenses to be used.

The Sony F3 has a high sensitivity ISO 800 and a 13 stop dynamic range the F3 offers amazing performance at a very affordable cost.

Record 10 bit 422 with the AJA KiPro Mini.

New firmware upgrade allows 4:4:4 10 bit HD SDI dual link to feed outboard recorders including the new Sony SR-R1 recorder.

Base camera records the same XDCAM EX format as the Sony EX1 and EX3 cameras onto SxS memory cards.

The first Epic-X cameras have shipped as of September 2011.

With 5K resolution recording from 1 to 120 fps, the Epic can shoot frame rates up to 225 fps at 2K res. Over 13 stops of dynamic range, 18 stops with HDR high dynamic range mode.

    HD Cinema is Stage 2 for two Epic-X cameras, in line with our RED #245 and # 246.

RED MX sensorRED Mysterium-X upgrades are at HD Cinema Our RED cameras have the MX sensor installed now. This new sensor is commonly rated at IS0 800-1200 compared to the exising RED sensor which is often rated IS0 160-320.

There is a new and better DeBayer process with new software REDCINE-X, along with special RED Rocket board with Quad DVI and Dual Link HD-SDI: Decode and debayer 4K R3D files realtime. Hyper-accelerated transcode to any system codec.

Plays full quality realtime 4K to 4K monitor or projector from DVI output (requires RED BREAKOUT BOX or Maxx Digital Mobile Rocket Chassis for MacBook Pro). Plays full quality 2K/1080P scaled from 4K footage out the Dual Link HD-SDI from RED Rocket card. RED Rocket rentals are avialable with or without RED MX camera rental. The Sony PMW-EX3 and our Sony EX1 cameras have become very popular with the HQ quality of XDCAM HQ recording 1920x1080 pixels onto both SxS Express 34 cards but also very affordable SDHC media.

HD Cinema now is providing 3D Stereo production and post services.

In addition to our Panasonic 3DA1 camcorder, we have two 3D Stereo beamsplitter/mirror rigs, a new Genus Hurricane rig as well as a 3D Film Factor BS Pro rig. They work with a variety of cameras but we have them set up for two Sony F3 and EX3 camera and two RED MX cameras.

Recording is to the Convergent Design nanoFlash 3D but also back up recording to individual SxS, SDHC or RED r3D files.

On set 3D stereo monitoring for the beam spitter requires flipping the image of the vertical camera, achieved by using the nanoFlash flip function, or an Inition Stereeobrain SB-1, Cinetal Davio to feed a Marshall 3D monitor, or there is a flip function built intoi the Panasonic BT-3DL2550 3D monitor.

A dual follow focus system synchronizes focus for either the standard lenses on the EX3s, or 2/3" B4 mount lenses on the EX3s, or PL Mount lenses on the RED or Alexa cameras.

Post production is available using Final Cut Pro with Cineform Neo3D editorial workflow. This software allows display support for 3D monitors, Real Time Convergence adjustment, and individual channel or dual stereo color adjustment.

A breakthrough in 3D Stereo imaging technlogy, the Panasonic 3DA1 twin lens/dual CMOS imager is an frees the camera operator from many of the complex adjustments needed with 3D Stereo mirror rigs.

HD Cinema provided a RED camera package with RED Pro Primes for the feature film "Fake", a drama/thriller about an artist lured into becoming an art forger. Written and directed by Greg Friedle, DP was Matt Boyd

Cast includes Gabriel Mann, Robert Loggia, Fisher Stevens, James Noble and Jill Flint.

 
   The new series on PBS "Landscapes Through Time" has won a 2009 Emmy award for writing in the Creative Arts and Entertainment category. Directed and produced by Connie Simmons, the shows use two of HD Cinema's Sony F900 CineAlta camera packages in locations in France and the USA.

The artists and locations of some of the programs include: Van Gogh at St. Remy, Monet's Waterlilies in Giverny, Cezanne in Provence - Mont St. Victoire, Renoir's Olive Groves - Cagnes Sur Mer, American Impressionists in Giverny, Turner at the Harbor of Honfleur.

  HD Cinema provided a Sony F900R package with Fujinon HA25x16.5 super telephoto and HA 13x4.5 wide   angle zoom lenses for the documentary production "Morning Light". Co-directed by Paul Crowder and   Mark Monroe, the Pacific High production team followed the rigorous tryouts to select a young crew to sail a   52 ft yacht from Long Beach CA to Honolulu Hawaii for the 2007 Transpac Race.

  Imagine a cinema-verité recreation that illuminates the action   leading up to and  immediately following the eternal moment in   the Spanish court painter's masterwork.

  Titled "89 Seconds at Alcazar" this piece was conceived and   directed by film/video artist  Eve Sussman bringing Velásquez'   1658 painting "Las Meninas" to life in High Definition digital   video.

  The installation (a 12 minute HD loop) premiered in the United  States at the Whitney Biennial in March 2004, and was acquired for the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum and the  Museum of Modern Art.

The video was shot with a Sony F900 CineAlta over four days in May in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The Director of Photography was Jeff Blauvelt, Steadicam was by Sergei Franklin.

  
  Jeff Blauvelt has received Emmy awards for Cinematography, Lighting and Editing during   his years working in film and broadcast television.  Now as a principal of HD Cinema, he is consulting and collaborating with independent feature filmmakers and television   documentary program producers.

"The Forlorn" 2009  After becoming snowbound in the Sierra Nevada during the winter of 1846-1847, a number of trapped settlers join together in a final effort to reach California and organize a rescue party.
Written and Directed by TJ Martin, Cinematography by Seamus Tierney, Producers Mark Costa, John Moore, Exec Producer Dawson Warner. Cast includes Crispin Glover, Clayne Crawford, Christian Kane, Mark Boone Junior.

"The Gold Retrievers: Legend of the Lost Treasure" 2009 A boy and his dog must go in search of a fabled local treasure in an effort to save the family house from foreclosure.
Directed by James D.R. Hickok, Cinematography by Andrew Starhorn, UPM Molly Bennett, Producers Mark Moran and Scott Vandiver. Cast includes Steve Guttenberg, Billy Zane, Robert R. Shafer, Michelle LaBret, Courtney Biggs.
